According to reports, WiiUDaily received an e-mail from the Japanese retailer detailing the launch date is set for Sunday, November 18th (North America) and a week later for Japan. There has been no official notification as to the release to European customers. Having released the Gamecube November 18th in 2001 and the Wii November 19th in 2006, also a Sunday, it looks as though, if rumors hold, Nintendo will keep with their November release tradition.
The report comes from an internal email obtained by WiiUDaily. The email circulated among staff at a game store in Japan, the Akihabara-based Media Land, one of the most popular video game shops in Tokyo. November has proven to be essential for the gaming industry over the past 10 years with the release of consoles and big titles, cementing the roadway into the holiday season. Looks as if Nintendo is poised to make this holiday season a big one.
The report doesn’t mention whether the Wii U launch date is an internal target date for Nintendo, or whether the company has already committed to releasing the Wii U to the public. I’ll be sure to keep an eye out on reports and keep you updated. For now if rumors are true, Nintendo fans can start to plan an all night gaming party for November 18th!
